Azeez and Sanjeevani featured in Eenadu article

Dear friends,

Being a part of Sanjeevani makes most of us feel special about ourselves.Abdul Azeez, the core team member of Loksatta Sanjeevani, says the same thing, as he is featured in a short article in A.P's leading news paper, Eenadu, on 17 - Jan - 2011.

Taking examples of people from different professional back grounds, this article appreacites all of them for their dedication and determination in taking time off their busy lives to serve the society in a great way.

"Sanjeevani made me realize that my dreams can come true. A lot of like minded people, working for a noble cause, will never fail. We will prove it very soon.
I feel honoured to be a part of this article, along with such great dedicated volunteers. I extend my thanks to the Sanjeevani team, and everybody who is supporting us in this journey."
, Abdul explains.

Congratulations, Abdul Azeez!!
Let us wish him and our very own Sanjeevani all the very best.

Regards,
Loksatta Sanjeevani Team

RTI helps a student to obtain fee reimbursement money

This is yet another story where RTI has helped a student to obtain fee reimbursement money which was held up due to negligence in a government office. Sanjeevani hopes that people who read these success stories get inspired and start filing complaints to resolve their issues instead of waiting endlessly or bribing someone at government offices. Complete details below the fold.

Gas refilling issues - Knowledge of RTI resolves them

We received the following testimonial to the power and effectiveness of RTI from citizens who discovered RTI via Sanjeevani’s campaigns. Our activists are thrilled that their efforts to take RTI to the people are bearing fruit. Even more, they are genuinely happy to hear of the concrete ways in which it has provided relief to common citizens.

Yes, RTI really works. Imagine the day when citizens will commonly use RTI, as a matter of fact. Like posting a letter. Like sending email. We believe that such a day is not far away.

500 RTI campaign - The Chief Information Commissioner responds

Dear Friends of Sanjeevani,

As most of you are already aware, following the mega event , the Sanjeevani team had met with the Chief Information Commissioner (AP), Mr. Jannat Hussain, to brief him about the results of our campaign on Section 4(1)(b). The team requested him to take the necessary action for ensuring compliance of the defaulting departments.

On 11-Jan-2011, Sanjeevani received an update that our findings and demands have been forwarded to the 'Special Chief Secretary to Government' for further actions. This is indeed fantastic news for all of us - to know that our voice is being heard and progress is being made. We will keep you all posted on further developments. A copy of the response is below the fold, for your reference.

Regards,
Sanjeevani Team

@Sri Indu College of Engineering and Technology - RTI Session

On January 6th, 2011, Sanjeevani conducted a RTI awareness session at Sri Indu College of Engineering and Technology, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad. The college management organized the session and invited Sanjeevani activists, Ganji Srinivas Rao and Abdul Azeez Shaik, to present. It was attended by an audience of over 300, comprising of both students and teachers.

The interactive session was a success, with students showing a keen interest in what RTI is and how it can be used. Amazingly enough, the students sat through the whole session of 90 minutes of their own accord and half of them stayed on even after it was announced that the college bus was leaving! About 30 of them stayed back after the session to interact further with Sanjeevani activists. It was pleasantly surprising for the activists to see the level of interest and awareness among the young generation. Photos from the event under the fold.
